the oriental jewel

big money again, hong kong happy valley last nite!

it came as no surprise that we see a $500+ ft payout, in fact i was disappointed that it was down to only $500+

a comparsion made between last nite and 2 sundays back shown a massive difference for the hong kong ft payout over in singapore

2 sundays back when happy lads came in, the ft payout was hkd3900+ and sgd1000+

last nite race 6 ft payout was hkd4500+ and sgd was only sgd500+

it can only shows one thing....

singapore punters are catching up in hong kong races, which to me, can be good or bad.

good as it will force the stc to raise the horse racing standard locally to retain the punters and bad that this means that dividend will be lower for hong kong races...

well, at the end of it, i still believe that this is good for the general punters as market force will take over, we will have more source of info for hong kong races

*****
personally, last nite wasnt good for me....
was predicting that race 6 highland dawn will be a out out napshot... but to my dismay, it returns only $14 for a place bet....
other races died too....
too much focus on the logic of one favourite + one out combi prevent me from striking the ft for race 6....
but i firmly believe that one day, just one day, i may just get it rite.
however, i'll will be back on the next hong kong race, he he he
anytime is a good time
to be a legendary forecast king
and it is all the way!

info on hong kong racing track

a good article from this week punter's way....

happy valley is a small track with tight turns, which means that it is best suited to front runners or "on the pace" horses for most of the time. the location of the rail in the c and c+3 positions makes this more pronounced due to the track design. the location of the starting points also affects the bias and this is even more evident with the 1000m and 1200m starting positions, favouring horses drawn close to the inside rails

most dirt and sand based all weather tracks favour front runners, which is more obvious if the race tempo is moderate. when the track is sealed during wet weather, it becomes favourable for front runners.

however, track bias does occur and can even changed during a meeting as the ground changes.

having typed all this, here's something for tonite hk happy valley race,

race one, obvious choice will be d whyte on we're buddies racing 1650m, which is whyte's pet distance, but then again, no value. i'm going for a ft bet with watchman and asia star. both will be the kind of mid value horses i hope.

race two, 1200m, couldnt locate any clear favourite but i do feel that asset play has a strong chance with african forest being the joint favourite at the start.

race three, 1650m. no d whyte, shd be easy. both sweetie and tori top look nice and if everything goes smooth during the run, we shd see these 2 figures in the top 3.

race four, 1800m. a distance i try not to play. too many factors will affect the outcome of the race...

race five, 1000m. a distance for sprinters. heavy bets will be on jolly gains, with napshot in paobridge.

race six, 1650m. read friom the papers, sunrise rainbow seems good enuff to win this race, with northern rose and just victory finishing close on paper. however, i will be going for a place in highland dawn.

race seven, 1650m. d whyte on the hat trick!

race eight and the last race for the day, 1000m. kimbo kid looks strong on paper with arabian wager, helen elegance and manifest. very messy race i predict... better save money and have a sweet dream, ha ha ha

losing grip......

i was wrong....

i need my punter's way every race day.

show me the money

aint it a big money thingy for today hong kong races?

we are toking abt 1k for a $2 ft bet!

this is encouraging and the emergence of appentice jockeys like hw lai, ha ha ha, it is definitely good to make it more competitive and attractive.

and back to penang races, not too bad, a lot of out out napshot, but then quality wise, couldnt really match up to hong kong races.

most disappointing of all, singapore friday nite racing. is it a matter of too many punters going for a small pot of gold?

something i noticed not too long ago... the odds for singapore races are a lot of one way ticket! it only can come down and not up, which brings the question to why again?

*****
anyway, enuff of the complaining and lamenting....
it has been a long long time that i last claimed money from stc, this is getting unbecoming.
and the ironic thing is...
my problem really dont lies in the selection...
but placement!
i have been spot on for 1st and 3rd past the post for many months now, and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to work out how much returns that would be, but i have been getting nothing.....
due to the fact that ft is for 1st and 2nd, no consolation for getting 1st and 3rd.....
how long can this last.............

hong kong hong kong

so glad that the hong kong horse racing season is here again!

the jewel of horse racing over our region here!

many punters have reservations over hong kong racing which i dont know why.... talked to a few uncles and understand it is the unknown factor....

which brings me to the question why?

arent we in the horse punting to defy the unknown?

dont we all dun noe which horse is going to cross the post first?

to me, punting is a unknown, a way to defy the unknown, a stage to broadcast your known to the others' unknown, a place to fill your ego, and at the same time, be rewarded for correctly cleared the unknowns.

i like hong kong races, because of the professional setup.

take a look at their turf club, compare it with ours, kranji, selangor, ipoh and penang. how far are we away from their standard....

remember those times when penang or ipoh races were cancelled just after 2 or 3 races? remember who was the one who profited? turb club operators of course!

we paid admission fee for the full 8 - 10 races, and after only 3, the day program were cancelled and no refund!

dat aside, the glam factor.

be it at sha tin or happy valley, just look at the number of professionals around during race days. it is unlike in local, where going to the turf club is a sneaky event, and even holding a guide will attracts stares and scowls.

we need to change.

horse racing is just like any other form of leisure activities, be it soccer, badmintion or any other sports.

people do bet on soccer, olympics events, and majority of the office workers queue up during the precious lunch time to buy toto, but why is horse racing being portraited as such a big vice, something close to prostitution? why?

i once followed a horse...

last nite, my gal told me abt her best fren n her boyfren
the usual scenario of distance apart causing frictions and things lik dat....

well, it makes me reflect upon myself....

n the horse, good prospect came to mind....

to all racegoers, u shd know abt this horse, not much of a performer though, but it did came in first last yr before... causing an $297 upset

i have followed this horse even before the upset win, just to see its donkey performance, but i was happy with what i saw and told myself that this horse will win one day...

so i followed

n followed

a lot of frustration in the midst

a lot of false hope too

but i never give up....

and to that faithful day, i hd already placed a 3 horse box ft, yet i threw another ten on a win place bet on good prospect.

and it won, $297 for a win and $90+ for a place!!!!!

from then on, many uncles followed this horse, resulted in only $63 win followed that upset...

and afterwhich never won anything else till today....

but the fact is i followed this horse, as i'm comfortable with it, how it looks, how it ran a race, the name and everything else.

it rewarded me back for my faith in it.

and now, with many uncles no longer followed it, i'm still around,

and i'm sure that it will reward me soon.....

and to the main point,

if you found something comfortable, hang on to it. it may never win a race, or another race, but at least it guarantee to put some smile to your face.
